How far away is falmouth?, the answer to that is….fucking miles away. However what a lovely place it was.

We were there as we were asked very nicely to support indie pop kings the Kaiser Chiefs in there first gigs for 2 years. The gigs went really well and it was a absolute delight to be involved, have you made your Kaiser Chief album yet? a very clever idea by them if you dont know what im talking about check out there website.

anyway Ive just got back from the place been in the van all day but heres a few pics from our trip

p.s I never thought we’d go to a place where they love pastys more than Sunderland

End of Dutch/UK tour blog

Hey gang, Im back in my own bed for the first time in what seems like an age but boy oh boy did we have fun on the road, it all started in Holland and the time we spent there was amazing. We got the party ferry from North Shields to get the tour started in classy style

Photobucket

during our time in Holland we met some lovely people and played in some great towns so thank you to each and everyone of you who were involved in any way or came to a show, it was also red hot so we went to the beach

Photobucket

That aside the most fun we had was at the services in Holland and I think its fair to say we overdosed on croquettes

Photobucket

When we got back to the UK we had the pleasure of going to some towns like Oxford,Stoke and Wrexham for the first time, again we loved it so thanks if you came down, also mad love to lets buy happiness who supported our UK dates. There were a few sad times on tour including this near death tyre exploding moment

Photobucket

One of the highlights of the UK dates had to be our second visit to The Great Escape in Brighton, we always have fun down there but this time was mental and our shows were packed. But we still found time for a round of slightly crazy golf which Mick won

Were on the road again !

Photobucket

Yes we are once again jetting off to the mainland, this time Holland, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Haarlem and Utrecht we are coming to you!

We have had a fun couple of weeks back home in Sunderland, we did long awaited homecoming gig at Independent in Sunderland which was ACE so thanks if you came down, it really makes us feel very humble indeed playing in front of so many familiar, friendly and supportive people.

Photobucket

Other than that we used some down time to get in the studio and work on some exciting new material, We cant really say much more than that at the moment but its really exciting and we are happy with how its sounding and our progress, there’s so many ideas flying around at the moment.

The only other thing we did of note was seeing how much ‘stuff’ we could balance on Michael’s face…..anyway speak soon

What have we been up to????!!!

Hey gang,

how are you lot then, hope your well, I have not done a blog in a while so I thought I’d just bring you up to speed with what we have been up to since the record came out.

Well we were caught in a rather unfortunate loop hope which meant we were one of the bands that did not make SXSW this year :( so we spent the time we were supposed to be there making new tunes up in our native North East

Photobucket

after we did this we then went out in Europe for our first Headline tour, we took in some beautiful city,s along the way and we had a blast as ever, Paris was great, Amsterdam as ever and we visited Ghent for the first time. Germany was super nuts and we had fun in both Berlin and maybe saw a bit to much of Hamburg

Photobucket

are plan now is to continue working on as much new material as we can while we have a chance, and we are really excited about the stuff we are coming up with.

If you did not know that video on the website splash page is for our new single “That Postcard” that will be out on May 9th, so don’t forget to buy it you cheapskates.

For record store day this Saturday we are in Italy doing shows so we could not be as involved as we would like to have been, but we have compiled a new fanzine and will be sending them to the independent record stores you love for that day.

many many much more exciting things coming very soon but i’ve gotta keep shhhhh about it for now at least, so until the gag is removed, see ya laterzzzz

Hunger

As a youth al I ever wanted was to have my name on a record. Because having your name on a record, in my opinion, this was the pinnacle of creativity, when in reality it was always just a loophole conquest to keep the bullies fist still and prevent their comments blowing warm in your face.

The grooves in that disc have no intentions of leaving you. They won’t scream at you or try and damage you. They’ll be the same always but will always evoke whatever you choose to take from it. Some records were made by the pains of experience and realised with the greenest shoots of revenge. I believe that Hunger took every blackened experience of 5 aspirational no-marks and kick its fucking face off until it yielded and came back as some kind of fucked up foetal remedy!

Revenge is a terribly broad term that people actually don’t talk about. It’s a sweeping generalisation of a word, rarely elaborated on. Im going to elaborate slightly if you don’t mind.

“You were only ever an agency worker!” was the last words I heard before I let the government fund my misery for a few months. This is technically true, but, I was only every an agency worker who saw blood spilled, had been threatened so many times it made you blasé. The great unclean who removed drinks from the irremovable who talked people down from roofs to have their faces explode in agony because they had fucking nothing but terrible histories and horrifying futures. The one thing I had had been taken and the only thing I now know I needed had been gifted. This is one instalment of so many cataclysmic events that lead to my small part on Hunger. The dark chapters of our weird lives are the only fibres that were fit enough to weave into the 40 minutes we had to deliver.

So please try to forgive us for being proud of this thing we never really had any right to make. This is why we had to make the record we did.

Telling adversity to go and fuck itself once is relatively easy as hindsight papers over the cracks you don’t want to see anymore. But now shit is getting real. I never thought Id be sat in sunny room in Sunderland about to launce some kind strange tirade as to why we cannot be in America, why Im tired because I had to travel a bit and work for an hour. This industry can make you ill, can sharpen you so quickly and blunt you even quicker. The highs are stranger and giddier the lows are punishing and frequent. I looked old when we started, now Methuselah is starting to make fun of me.

I always thought that Wesley Snipes would play me in the film of my life; I NEVER thought I would be playing myself. I can’t think of a brighter pleasure than spending 30 years making sense of things you may always find perplexing. Things that accelerate your heart with anger, ecstasy and the black and white moments your organs put you through.

And who knows, next week I may be signing lazy money tokens at my local Job Centre plus. Michael might be having his morning panic about teaching the disgruntled youth of Sunderland. Mick might be ironing his blazer and crunching numbers for bacci. Den might be getting on with it and Frankie might be a big faced lothario doing, well, not much of any significance. It makes very little difference because beyond scratching our names from every record, its here and it really isn’t going anywhere apart from into the mitts of who needs it.

Sometimes hearing your kind words is very difficult but its so much harder no to hear them. Thank you for being part of Hunger, it means so so much to us and this is just the first paragraph in our weird assignment. Welcome on board.

First gig of the year was EUROSONIC

Hi gang !!

We had a great time, Eurosonic is a city festival that takes place in Gronegan thats in the Netherlands if you didnt know. We stayed in a kick ass hotel that had not just a rainfall shower but a massage bath in our rooms !!!

I was suffering from a bad stomach the whole time we were there but that didnt detracted away from the fun we had and the gig we did there.

Its was great to make new friends and play in front of people who had never heard of us before.

we also had time to perform live on Dutch Radio, heres the proof

We had a great time and we cant wait for the UK tour coming soon, Also keep an eye out for new single HUNGER as the video will be going KABOOOOOOOOOOOM all over your screens very soon
